We’re a couple of months into 2023. Why are you still using packaging material from the ’80s? It’s time to refresh your product packaging game with the year’s hottest design trends.

Eye-popping colors have been making a splash since the start of the new year. Colorful themes are fun, exciting, and playful. Using large swaths of bright and bold hues will surely grab attention while on a shelf, but as with all things, moderation is key. Don’t use daring colors just for the sake of grabbing attention. Make sure it fits with your branding goals in the long run.

Show a Human Touch With Handwritten Fonts

We have nothing against using popular fonts but maybe it’s time to give Helvetica a break. While classic fonts are tried and tested, you run the risk of looking like a dime-a-dozen other brands. Using handwritten text or off-the-beaten-path fonts adds a personalized, human element to your design.

Sustainably Sourced Is Sexy

We don’t want to refer to this as a fad or trend because sustainability is always sexy. But as more people and brands become more socially aware, the clamor for ethical sourcing and environmental responsibility is louder than ever. Choosing the right packaging material is crucial for the message you want to convey. In the case of Hudson James, they used our 100% recycled corrugated kraft cardboard material as the base of their mailer box, which makes the simple white font and design pop and creates a homey natural vibe.

Why so serious? Whimsical and funny designs are more memorable since they tickle the funny bone. Designs that are too stiff and straightforward tend to be forgettable. Adding an element of strangeness to your artwork is an open invitation for potential customers to look closer and absorb your messaging.
