Product Information
What type of tape should I use on printed boxes?
Because digitally printed surfaces can be less porous than unprinted paperboard, not all tapes and adhesives will stick well.
We recommend reinforced water-activated tape when it’s needed. It provides strong adhesion and is tamper-evident. Self-adhesive tape can be a great alternative, but we recommend conducting an adhesion test with your printed boxes and the chosen tape, as adhesive quality can vary.
Packlane offers custom printed Water-Activated Tape and self-sealing Poly Tapes for an additional branded touch.
Do I need tape to assemble my box?
- Shipping Box styles require tape or another adhesive to keep them securely closed.
- Mailer Boxes and most other box styles close securely without tape. Still, we recommend using tape or another closure if they'll be shipped without additional outer packaging to help prevent tampering during transit.
Does temperature affect tape adhesion?
Yes. Cold temperatures can reduce the effectiveness of tape and shipping labels, especially those that use rubber or hot melt adhesives.
