We’ve compiled this handy guide to help answer questions about shipping your products in Packlane boxes.

Can I ship in the box I ordered, without additional packaging?

It depends upon the box style.

Our Mailer Boxes and Shipping Boxes are designed to ship without additional outer packaging, and many brands use them this way. Mailer boxes, especially, are a popular choice for subscription boxes and other direct-to-consumer shipments because they protect during transit while creating a great unboxing experience.

Cardstock Boxes are made from SBS paperboard and are not designed to be shipped on their own without additional external packaging.

Similarly, Corrugated Product Boxes are ideal for retail display and internal packaging. Still, they should be placed inside a sturdier corrugated box specifically designed for shipping (such as a Mailer Box or Shipping Box) to help protect your products during transit.

To create an extraordinary unboxing experience, layering branded Custom Tissue Paper inside the box you are shipping in and sealing it with custom-printed Water-Activated Tape or self-sealing Poly Tapes is sure to leave a lasting impression!

What information do I need to have before shipping something?

To ship a package, you'll need:

• The complete shipping address, including the recipient's name, street address, city, state, and ZIP code
• The package’s exterior dimensions (length, width, and depth)
• The package weight

If you're shipping using Priority Cubic Rate, you'll also need to measure the package's girth (the distance around its longest side) to determine whether it qualifies.

To measure the exterior dimensions of a package, you can measure it when you receive your order. Or you can contact our Customer Service team for assistance with calculating the approximate exterior dimensions.

What type of tape should I use on printed boxes?

For shipping and sealing corrugated boxes, Packlane recommends reinforced water activated tape; it provides strong adhesion and is tamper-evident. Self-adhesive tape can be a great alternative, but we recommend conducting an adhesion test with your printed boxes and the chosen tape, as adhesive quality can vary.

Do I need to use special labels for postage?

No. You can print your shipping label using a label printer or a regular printer.

If you ship frequently, a label printer with shipping labels can be a convenient and cost-effective option. If you're applying a shipping label directly to a printed box, consider leaving an unprinted area in your design to help the label adhere more securely.

If you're using regular printer paper, we recommend covering the label with clear packing tape to help protect it and keep it securely attached to your package.

Where should I place my shipping label?

We recommend leaving a small unprinted area on the top or bottom panel of your outermost box for the shipping label. This unprinted area gives the label a better surface to adhere to.
