Artwork Guidelines

For the best print quality with Econoflex boxes, follow the guidelines below.

Raster images & vector graphics

• We strongly encourage the use of vector images or high-resolution raster images (at least 300 ppi).
• Read about raster images and vector graphics for more information.
• Sending artwork as 100% black-only or grayscale color mode can help prevent unpredictable shifts in tone during conversion to halftone for printing. High-contrast images are also recommended for best print results.
• Solid black areas (100% K) will print as solid black ink.
• Grayscale or lower opacity imagery (<100% K) will print as halftone dots.
• Reverse linework and reverse text are strongly discouraged on Econoflex boxes.

Text sizes

• We recommend a minimum font size of 10pt.
• Reverse text is strongly discouraged on Econoflex boxes.
• If designing reversed or "knockout text" (where the text is unprinted on a solid black background), the recommended minimum text size is 16pt.

Linework sizes

• We recommend a minimum weight of 1pt for linework.
• Reverse graphics are strongly discouraged on Econoflex boxes.
• If designing reverse/knockout graphics (where the lines are unprinted on a solid black background), the recommended minimum weight is 2pt.

Bleed & safety

• The Econoflex production method doesn't support bleeds (printing beyond the cut edge), or printing on box creases. Graphics cannot be printed all the way to the cut or folded edges of the box, as an unprinted margin is required around each panel.
• Please ensure all design elements allow for an unprinted margin of 0.5" around the edge of each box face. This margin is required so that the ink coverage is as even as possible.
• Due to the manual, screen-print-like nature of this print process, imperfections on some areas are expected.
