Desserted Adds Value to Their Brand With Premium Custom Packaging

Desserted’s founder, Jimmy LaPrelle, set out to make ‘gifts that don’t suck’ and he quickly realized that his packaging couldn’t suck either. The problem was, he had no idea where to begin. “I didn’t know a single thing about packaging, but I knew I wanted it to be a premium experience. I also knew I was going to need help–if there’s one thing I’ve learned as an entrepreneur it’s that you need to know what you are good at, and when to get help.”

To set himself apart from the standard floral and fruit arrangements of the industry, he invested in custom packaging that aligned with the aesthetic and premium experience their brand had to offer.

With boxes for every occasion, Desserted offers a range of reasons to give the gift of a premium dessert box. From their Birthday box to “Another Year of This Sh*” box and even a Voracious Vegan box, finding a special sweet treat has never been easier.

From package novice to equipped business owner

Having a background in business development, Jimmy saw a need in the gifting industry and decided to pursue his love of desserts whole-heartedly. Now that the company is nearing its first anniversary in business, they have nine delicious mailer boxes and a product that keeps consumers coming back for more. Curating the brand and dessert line-up throughout the year came easy; however, the boxing model was a bit more challenging.

While Jimmy understood the importance of an unboxing that would align with this special gift, he was new to the packaging process and needed someone to guide him. He researched several companies and found the one that he could trust: Packlane.

We use multiple size options now, but knowing how to size from the get-go would’ve saved us crucial time.” Each specific mailer box is now custom-designed with unique dimensions and just as sweet as the treats within them.

Thoughtful, branded packaging has created the impact to transcend the idea of traditional gifting and transform the experience into something magical that starts at your doorstep with Desserted. This magic goes beyond meaningful desserts, but has grown into a special moment to give back, as well.

“At the beginning, I knew I wanted a tangible give-back element in the company. Since we are based in Denver, I found Food for Thought. They provide sacks of food for kids from low-income areas that don’t have a reliable source of food. We fund one food sack for one kid with every dessert box we send.”

By crafting a custom experience that excites, Desserted connects with consumers in a meaningful way and gives them the opportunity to pour into the community–and this is only just the beginning. Jimmy has grand plans for the future of Desserted, specifically its packaging! His latest focus is on the addition of interior print to the box design.

“We want the whole experience to be exciting from the outside of the box to the excitement of opening it up and being surprised by the inside!”
