Populum Pioneers the Premium Packaging Experience

Stepping into the future of wellness

Setting out to change the landscape of modern self-care, Populum believes that hemp is the future of wellness and offers a collection of premium, full-spectrum CBD products designed for everyday living.

Gunhee Park, Founder of Populum, always looked to plant-based wellness remedies and became passionate about the hemp plant in 2015. Due to a lack of regulation and transparency in the industry, he had a hard time finding reliable brands that he could trust to make accurate claims about the product. He quickly realized that this was not just an issue for him, but it had an impact on others seeking to learn more about CBD, too. Through Gunhee’s passion and the need for transparent and credible CBD products came the birth of Populum.

With a brand name inspired by the latin phrase, ‘ad populum’ meaning “for the people”, Populum takes a customer-first approach with everything they do. Their mission to destigmatize hemp and create full transparency around the benefits of CBD is fueled by their passion to help customers live better, healthier lives. From their products to their packaging, Populum has crafted an experience that successfully welcomes newcomers and converts them into full-blown CBD believers.

“Something that was really important to us as we were designing our packaging and thinking about our unboxing experience–we all live in a world where we’re getting so many packages all of the time. We wanted to make our experience of actually receiving the product something that really was exciting.”

Populum’s packaging designed for the people

Since the launch of Populum, the CBD industry has become an extremely crowded marketplace. Populum has always prioritized the customer experience and in a highly competitive marketplace, this has become absolutely essential. As pioneers in the industry, the aim has been to build hemp’s reputation as an essential supplement and make it accessible to the mainstream. According to Caitlin March, Director of Marketing, this meant staying transparent and educating consumers as much as possible, but also going above and beyond to provide them with an unboxing that was meaningful.

Populum designed both their product packaging and collateral intentionally to set themselves apart from other CBD companies. They used their citrus-infused blends as inspiration to design bright mailers and product boxes that would reflect the fresh, lively energy of their brand. As the company grew, they maintained this look from product line to product line in order to offer a consistently high-end experience for every order.

“You can tell by each product, if you see any of them, that they are a part of the Populum brand. We wanted to make sure that when people would see a product from Populum, they recognize it as our product. That being said, we also wanted to be sure that each product and each different type of category had its own unique, distinct feel.”

A box that can do both

Whether delivered to your doorstep or stacked atop a retail shelf, Populum designed their product packaging with both online and in-store shopping experiences in mind. With retailers like Anthropoligie and Penzone, Gunhee and Caitlin were careful to select boxes offering a look and feel that would leave a long-lasting impression.

From messaging to design, Populum’s collection of custom product boxes set the stage when it comes to wowing e-commerce or brick-and-mortar shoppers with an experience to remember.

“One other thing that we were conscious about when developing our product line was not only our customers that are receiving this at home, but also having our brand stand out in a retail shelf–and we really think that the packaging we’ve developed with Packlane has helped us stand out among the crowd.”
