Yes! The more boxes you order, the lower your price per box. 

You can view the savings offered for different quantities on our product pages. You can even enter a custom quantity to order the exact number of boxes you need.  

Pricing is generally a factor of five things: 

• Dimensions (depth is the most influential measurement on pricing)
• Box style
• Material (premium materials result in a higher price)
• Quantity (higher quantities = significant unit cost savings)
• Print options (selections like double-sided printing result in a higher price)

No. The number of colors in your design doesn't affect the price. 

Because we use digital CMYK printing, pricing is not based on the ink coverage of your artwork or the number of colors used in your design. This means you can use as many colors as you'd like!

Short story: Because your state says so. 

Packlane is legally required to collect sales tax in states where it has a "sales tax nexus." All collected sales tax will be remitted back to the state that requires the collection of this tax; no percentage of sales tax is kept by Packlane. 

Another thing to remember is that sales tax is determined by the state (and, in some cases, the county or city) at the shipping destination address for each order, not the state where your business is headquartered. If you are shipping your order to a state in which you are not Exempt from sales tax, your order will include sales tax at Checkout.

The tax-exemption qualifications and application processes vary by state, and Packlane is not authorized to advise on these matters. 

For the most up-to-date and accurate information on tax exemption, we recommend checking out your state's Department of Commerce website or speaking with the tax professional who assists you with your business tax filings. If a search box is available on your state's website, searching for "tax-exempt" will often pull up the information you're looking for. 

Only your state can confirm whether your business qualifies and provide you with the necessary paperwork. Once you have that paperwork and an approved Tax-Exempt status from your state, you may apply for tax collection exemption on your Packlane orders. 

After Packlane verifies your status, it's important to remember that tax exemption is declared on a per-order basis. It is solely your responsibility to make that declaration on your orders with us as the purchaser. 

For example, you may make several exempt packaging purchases for your business and then make an order for boxes for your child's birthday party. In your state, that last purchase may not qualify for an exemption, but it is up to you to un-check the tax-exempt button during checkout for that order and/or to declare that purchase on your sales & use tax filing. 

There are 2 ways to apply for exemption of sales tax collection with Packlane: 

1. Before checkout - On the  Settings  page under  My account,  there is a section to submit a request for tax-exempt checkout with Packlane. This is also where your current tax-exempt status can be found.
2. During checkout - Clicking on the “Tax Exempt” link next to the Sales Tax section will reveal the option to apply for tax-exempt checkout with Packlane. 

Tax exemption verification can take up to 5 business days, and must be completed separately for each state in which you are declaring exemption. 

The basic info needed for the application will vary by state. As the business owner/applicant, you are responsible for providing all information required by the state in which you are declaring exemption. This may include: 

• U.S. state in which exemption is being claimed
• Official business name
• License/exemption/permit number
• EIN (some states)
• Business entity ID (some states)
• Expiration date of license (some states)
• Sales tax license or other verification form required by your state

After you enter this information in the form on your Settings page or at Checkout, we will review your application within about 5 business days. When the review process is completed, you will receive an email notification with the results. 

If we can successfully verify your tax exemption status, any orders placed after you submitted the verification request will have their sales tax refunded. A Customer Service representative will contact you to verify the amounts and provide receipts as needed. 

Please note: If you are shipping to multiple states, you must fill out this form and provide state-specific information for EACH state in which you claim exemption. Tax is calculated based on the destination shipping address for each order.
